U.S. Consul General in Dhahran Visits Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic

U.S. Consul General in Dhahran Mike Hankey visited Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic (SPSP) in Dammam in an official visit.

Executive Director Eng. Abdullah Al-Yami and officials of SPSP welcomed the Consul and the Consulate representatives. Eng. Al-Yami provided a detailed overview of SPSP, pointing out that SPSP began with 4 student sponsoring companies and 200 students, and now there are 77 companies and 2,000 graduates since the institute was established. He also explained the training program at SPSP, and answered the Consul’s questions the disciplines and programs provided by the institute, which covers general disciplines of petroleum services of international standards such as electrical, pipe fitting, welding, mechanics, operation and drilling. Eng. Al-Yami touched on the advantages of being a student at SPSP that guarantee the students are trained to perform with high potentials.

The Consul and Consulate representatives, accompanied by the Executive Director, were taken on a tour and visited the academic and technical classrooms and workshops of the institute and the drilling platform at the construction and drilling training centre.

The Consul praised SPSP’s uniqueness and the efficiency of its technical and administrative staff and also expressed his admiration of the different workshops and technical disciplines available.

At the end of the visit, Eng. Abdullah Al-Yami presented a memorial trophy to the Consul in expression of gratitude for his visit to SPSP.
